K-YCC (“we”, “the station”), Your Christian Companion in Stockton, California, makes the K-YCC Radio app. This page explains what the app collects, why, and the choices you have. You don’t need an account to use the app.
Information you choose to send us
- Prayer requests. Your name, an optional email address and your request, so our team can pray for you and follow up if you ask. If you choose to share it on the Prayer Wall, your first name and request may be shown to other listeners after our team reviews it. If you ask to be told when people pray for you, the app also stores a notification token for that request (see Notifications below).
- Faith conversations, contact messages, church recommendations and street team sign-ups. The name, contact details and message you enter, so the right person at the station can reply. These are never shown publicly.
- Song requests. The song, and the name, city and message you enter, which our on-air hosts may read on the air.
- Feedback. Your message, your name and email if you give them, and your phone model and app version so we can fix problems.
Information the app uses automatically
- Notifications. If you allow notifications, Google Firebase Cloud Messaging gives your device an anonymous token so we can send station announcements. You can turn notifications off in your phone’s settings at any time.
- Song likes. When you tap the heart on a song, we record the song, the time and a random ID made on your phone (so each phone counts once per song). Nothing identifies you. Your own list of favorite songs stays on your phone.
- Find a station near me. If you use this and allow it, the app reads your approximate location to show the closest K-YCC frequency. Your exact location is never stored or sent to us; only your city is used for the listener map described above.
- Where people listen (city level). While audio is playing, the app sends its random install ID and approximate city to our server about every 10 minutes, so the station can see a map of where listeners are. If you’ve already allowed location for “Find a station near me,” the app uses your phone’s city (rounded to about 5 km, never a precise position); otherwise our server estimates the city from your internet connection. The app never asks for location just for this, your IP address is not stored, and nothing identifies you.
- App usage counts. To learn which features are used most, the app counts things like opening a screen, starting the stream or sending a prayer request, and sends those totals with its random install ID every few minutes. We only look at combined totals; nothing you type is included, and no outside analytics company is involved.
- Listening. Audio is streamed by Live365, our streaming provider, which may log standard connection information (such as IP address) to run the stream and count listeners. We don’t receive personal information from them.
- App preferences such as night mode and data saver are stored only on your phone.
What we don’t do
We don’t sell or rent personal information, we don’t use advertising or tracking, and we don’t build profiles of listeners.
Service providers
Messages and requests are stored with Google Firebase (United States). Song information and artwork come from Live365 and Apple Music; artist bios come from Wikipedia; sermon videos are played from YouTube under YouTube’s terms. Opening a link to another app or website (YouTube, Apple Music, our social media) is covered by that service’s own privacy policy.
Children
The app is suitable for all ages and doesn’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we’ll delete it.
Keeping and deleting your information
We keep messages only as long as our ministry needs them. To have a prayer request or any other message deleted, or with any question about this policy, email kycc@kycc.com.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll post the new version here and update the date at the top.
